Police Pretty Privilege

When it comes to the situations with police officers harming unarmed citizens I feel as if more intense punishments should be lay against them. As law enforcer I feel like they should be treated as if a citizen was to attack or harm and unarmed citizen. In several cases brought to daylight recently many officers get off with a slap on the wrists and told to step down from police forces, while any other citizen would be seeing jail time. Overall the repercussions of a part of law enforcement should be treated equally and justly by the law and rules placed.

Losing Against A Won War

Over several years our world, has found one  major way to solve issues. The way we solve it is with violence, even though at a young age we are embedded with the term, "Violence is never the answer." Our society still hasn't grown from the violence game. Many men and women are sent out to fight these battles, to either help our ally countries, or defend our own country. "Protect and serve," is a term many soldiers are told, but what happens when many soldiers come back and suffer from PTSD, does our government still, "Protect and serve." Not normally, as the speaker said suicide has been a common way for soldiers to deal with the trauma they faced while trying to protect us. Sadly, how often do you hear of us helping them, or celebrating them other than one day a year. I think, our society and government has a lot of room for improvement when giving thanks to the men and women who have helped defend our home and native land.

Is All Hope Gone? Halloween Taken Wrong

When I was growing up Halloween was know to be a time when a person could be someone else for a day. It used to be about the fear of what goes bump at night, and what was lingering under my bed, or what was behind that door in the scary movies my parents didn't let me watch. As I grew up I noticed less and less kids were celebrating the known traditions and it started to become a adults realm. Children have been decreasing in the know spirit events, while adults are seen to be making a terrible choice making this night into a 'slutty' time to enjoy. Many advertisements are heard about the sexy nurse or the flirty school girl on commercials for "Stage Shop", corrupting the wholesomeness  of getting dressed up for Halloween, creating younger crowds to view the holiday as a party day rather than a day of sweetness and fright. Over all my view on Halloween has been shot due to the idea to sexy rather than cute or creepy.

Write To Be Free

To me poetry is an escape. I get to step in someone else's world and try to comprehend their way of living. By reading other people's pieces of work, you learn a whole new outlook on this person. Most poets write about things that occur in their live that either bring them a abundance of happiness, or a lake of sadness. I found why I write poetry, I just let everything go. It is almost as if the hands just do the talking, as my brain allows every little detail I need to put down fall. Over all poetry has taught me one major thing, it isn't real if you censor yourself, so don't hold back your true emotions when writing poetry.

Reflection on School Assignments

In school we are given many of projects a year. There are some projects where people cannot place their own interests in depending on their interests. For me I find my English, Religion and Art teachers have truly hit topics I enjoy learning or researching about. With courses related to individuality it is much easier to take you own learning into you own hands. While in the Science and Math departments it may be much harder to find an interesting topics to fight for. With a creative twist, and hard enough thought you could make any topic hit your interests as well as the teacher main assignment.

Sylvia Plath

Sylvia Plath was a famous poet, most of her poems were written in the 1950's. She was born on October 27th 1932 unfortunately on February 11th 1963 she had taken her own life by sticking her head in her oven. Sylvia struggled with a divorce and depression causing her to find her writing being much more sad. Her work that is most known is The Bell Jar, Journals, and Letters.

"Perhaps some day I’ll crawl back home, beaten, defeated. But not as long as I can make stories out of my heartbreak, beauty out of sorrow."
-Sylvia Plath (The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath)

Sylvia is explaining how no matter how beaten down you become in life, it only empowers your writing ability. She is stating that no matter how much pain might be brought to your life, you can make it a beautiful ending. Once you go through a situation is life, it is your choice to write the ending of it. I truly love the meaning of this quote overall because of the issues I have been through, it means I can write it in my own ways and change my ending.
